Liverpool reveal Ryan Gravenberch's shirt number

Liverpool have confirmed Ryan Gravenberch's shirt number following his deadline day move from Bayern Munich. The Reds have long been admirers of the midfielder and they stepped up their attempts to sign him during the final week of the summer transfer window. A deal to bring him in on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich was confirmed late on Friday evening, with Gravenberch revealing that he had spoken to international teammates Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo about a move to Anfield. Liverpool also announced that Gravenberch will take the number 38 for his first season at the club. Gravenberch wore the number 38 during his sole full season at Bayern Munich. During his final campaigns at Ajax, he took on the number 8 and 29 shirts, while he also adorned 38 during his breakthrough 2018/19 season in Amsterdam. Ansu Fati to undergo medical ahead of sudden Barcelona loan exit

Ansu Fati is set to undergo a medical with Brighton & Hove Albion as he closes in on a loan move away from Barcelona, 90min understands. Having struggled to showcase his best form since returning from the devastating injury problems that cost him almost two years of his career, Fati was made available for transfer earlier this summer but rebuffed all approaches in the hope of re-establishing himself at Barcelona. However, the emergence of 16-year-old Lamine Yamal has contributed to Fati's decision to seek a move away from Catalonia and sources have confirmed to 90min that he has agreed to join Brighton for the remainder of the season. Several Premier League sides voiced an interest in Fati, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur among the sides to ask for updates on the 20-year-old, but it is Brighton who have won the race for his signature. Fati is now heading to England to undergo a medical ahead of putting pen to paper on a season-long loan which does not include a perm...

Chelsea in talks with Roma over Romelu Lukaku loan

Chelsea are in talks with Serie A side Roma over the potential loan departure of striker Romelu Lukaku, 90min understands. The Blues knocked back loan enquiries earlier this summer in the hope of finding a permanent buyer for Lukaku, but the Belgian rejected the chance to move to Saudi Arabia and saw Inter end their interest after learning of Lukaku's negotiations with Juventus. While Juventus are prepared to sign Lukaku outright, the only offers presented thus far have been as part of a swap deal involving Dusan Vlahovic in which Chelsea would also have to pay an additional fee - a proposal which was swiftly knocked back. Having once again rejected a move to Saudi Arabia in recent days, permanent buyers for Lukaku are proving hard to come by and now 90min understands Chelsea are once again open to letting the 30-year-old leave on loan. Immediate interest has been registered from Roma, who are looking for a replacement for the injured Tammy Abraham. Jose Mourinho's side had...

How Chelsea's spending under Todd Boehly compares to the rest of the Premier League

Image
It's hard to read about the Premier League without being reminded Chelsea have spent loads of money since Todd Boehly acquired the club. The west Londoners have been ridiculously prolific in the transfer market ever since Boehly arrived, both in terms of buying new players and selling unwanted squad members. Deals like the £115m splashed out on Moises Caicedo - which made the former Brighton midfielder the Premier League's all-time record transfer - are now part and parcel of how things work at Stamford Bridge ever since the consortium led by Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed their £4.25bn takeover in May 2022. We all know that Chelsea have spent a lot, but where does their spend ing under Boehly compare to the rest of the Premier League since May 2022? How much have Chelsea spent under Todd Boehly? Chelsea complete signing of Romeo Lavia from Southampton

Chelsea have announced the signing of midfielder Romeo Lavia from Southampton. The Blues will pay around £58m including add-ons to the Saints for a long-term target having previously tried to sign him last summer. They have fought off stiff com Pet ition from Liverpool to secure Lavia's signature and the Belgium international has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge. "I can't wait to meet all my new team-mates and build a chemistry together to achieve great things together," he told the club's website. Lavia joined Southampton last summer from Manchester City and emerged as one of the Premier League 's finest young talents during his first season as a senior player. Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Chelsea's co-sporting directors who outmanoeuvred their Liverpool counterparts, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Romeo to Chelsea. He demonstrated his quality in the Premier League last season at Southampton, showing matur...

Jurrien Timber injury: Progress & potential return date for Arsenal defender

Image
Jurrien Timber had dreamed of playing for Arsenal since his days in Ajax's academy. Upon his £38m move to the Premier League runners-up, the Amsterdam side released a video of a young Timber. When asked which club he might move to in the future - which, as an aside, shows the selling mentality of Ajax - Timber answered: "I've always been a fan of Arsenal ." However, the dream lasted less than one hour of Premier League football before Timber hobbled off during Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. Here's the latest on Timber's injury status. Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool exit stance for Saudi linked star

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he does not expect Liverpool to part ways with midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer. Thiago is the latest Liverpool midfielder to attract interest from Saudi Arabia, with reports suggesting a reunion with Roberto Firmino at Al Ahli could be on the cards. Liverpool have already sold both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia, while James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have departed on free transfers, leaving Klopp's side a little light in midfield. As a result, there are no plans to offload Thiago, who is back in training after recovery from a hip injury. "He’s now training, he came in and asked about his role and we spoke," Klopp told his pre-match press conference before Liverpool's opening Premier League Game of the new season. "[He’s a] super experienced player, he stepped up in that department. He has only been in team training for a week but very vocal, he is going to be very helpful for us." READ T...
