Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has described this weekend as an ‘opportunity’ to end the club’s poor recent record at Anfield when they face an inconsistent Liverpool in the Premier League . The Gunners have not won a game at Anfield in any competition since a league visit in September 2012 almost 11 years ago. Of the 12 times they have been to the red side of Merseyside since, eight have ended in Liverpool wins, with four draws. In 2020, Arteta’s Arsenal won at Old Trafford for the first time since 2006, while the recent north London derby victory was their first away at Tottenham since 2015. Arsenal have won their last three trips to Stamford Bridge, but prior to 2021 hadn’t won there since 2011. Anfield remains the next one to tick off in terms of big away wins for Arteta.
