The Miami Marlins and the Pittsburgh Pirates will conclude their four-Game series this Sunday from IoanDepot Park. Miami took Game three in walkoff fashion, 4-3. 

Pirates Betting Preview

Pittsburgh comes in at 35-41 after falling to Miami. The Pirates rallied to force extras, but they’d come up short once again to fall back into the loss column. The Pittsburgh offense is scoring 4.11 runs per Game, while batting .243, with a .321 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.34 ERA, with a 1.39 WHIP. Carlos Santana has plated runs in all three Games in South Beach, and he’s up to 37 RBI. Andrew McCutchen doubled twice in Game three, and he’s batting .260, after recording hits in seven of the last nine contests. Leading hitter Bryan Reynolds’ absence remains glaring at the top of Pittsburgh’s lineup. 

Johan Oviedo (3-7, 4.30 ERA, 71 Ks) will get the ball for Pittsburgh. The fourth-year righty pitched better in a rematch against Chicago, holding them to two runs in six innings, but he still suffered his third straight losing decision. Oviedo has delivered three quality starts in four outings this month, but their offensive struggles have been a thorn in his side.

Marlins Betting Preview 

Miami moved to 44-34 after beating Pittsburgh. The Marlins responded with their seventh win in ten Games, and they’ll look to close the series strong Sunday.  The Miami offense is scoring 4.00 runs per Game, while batting .260, with a .321 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.05 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Luis Arraez supplied the rare homer in the Game three win, and he’s leading the league in batting (.401) and hits (110). Bryan De La Cruz has collected a hit in seven of the last eight Games, and he’s posting a line of .273/8/41. Jon Berti has multiple hits in four of his last six contests, and he’s batting .277.  Jorge Soler leads Miami in home runs (21) and RBI (45). 

Eury Perez (4-1, 1.54 ERA, 24 Ks) will take the mound for Miami. The rookie pitcher put together the best outing of his young career against Toronto last time out, tossing a season-high nine strikeouts in six scoreless innings en route to a Marlins win. Perez has enjoyed a special start to his major league career, and he’s pitched shutout ball in four of his last five Games. 

Pittsburgh vs Miami Trends

Pittsburgh is 35-40 against the spread this season, with a 36-36-3 O/U record. Miami is 37-40 ATS this year, with a 35-40-1 over/under record.

Miami took care of Business when it counted last night, and with their rookie sensation Eury Perez set to take the hill, I like them closing this series strong. Perez prematurely has the look of an All-Star, and there’s little reason to fade him at home against a struggling Pittsburgh team. Back Miami to take the series finale, and continue to give Luis Arraez’ props all of the looks, as he’s solidified himself as the best hitter in baseball.
